We announced our little secret to the Holman Family on Christmas Day by hanging an extra stocking. As we didn't have any name for the little jelly bean yet, we put the name "Cletus the Fetus" on the sock. We made sure we got up early to watch for any discoveries and were surprised when Kirk walked up to it, looked at it, and walked away. We had to physically drag the family up to the balcony to open stockings. And we waited. Finally Rob asked, "are there one too many stockings?", and Jon made him read them all out loud. Jenny waited a moment and finally stated, "Wait..fetus means baby!". Desi was very anxious about telling anybody and the delays in understanding made it all the more funny. We were so worried about them figuring it out before hand. Desi even spent Christmas eve tucked away in her room because she didn't feel well, and nobody suspected a thing.

We announced the good news to the White Family on New Years Day. Conveniently my mother had planned a luncheon to gather the family and celebrate both Jon's graduation and the New Year. We ate at The Garden Restaurant at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Jon proposed a toast to being grateful school was over, moving on with life, and Desi being pregnant. Unfortunately the announcement sounded like a hopeful wish and nobody got it. Somebody had to ask if it was an announcement or not. It was a fumbled delivery but it was wonderful to have most of the family there for it. The food was really good.
Desi was concerned that her little pregnant belly would give her away. She wore a sweater with the intent of hiding her baby bump, but it was still apparent. She looked adorable.

That was a fun day. How things have changed from when I was young! Thanks for blogging. Mom White
